The below gives you:

• A local IDE
• helpful command line upgrades
• an extremely popular package manager
• typescript, and node installed globally
• authentication for push and pulling to a github repository in a secure way to/from your local machine
• Potentially a set of apps very helpful for various things

Steps:

• download and install:

  • fig

  • VS Code and/or cursor.so

    • after cursor.so is installed, can launch from command line using “cursor”

  • homebrew

  • rectangle.app

  • to use: https://cli.github.com/manual/gh_pr

• get node and node version manager installed (nvm = node package mgr)

• install typescript globally

• link git repo locally (create SSH keys and save to local machine - clone the git repo to trhe directory u want it to exist at)

• create some z shell/bash/terminal aliases (shell aliases)

  • logan will send me a list of aliases
  • git status = gs
  • this is done by preference

• EXTRA CREDIT: start using vim and use a vim emulator in vs code

  • read up on how to use this

• To set up a new code editor and import previous projects (might have missed something here)

• How to clone a git repo locally

• Consider setapp.com, a Mac app aggregation thing (pay x monthly and get a bunch of cool apps)
